Description: This listing is for the incredibly rare oddity card from the 1997 Donruss Signature issue. Tony Gwynn (#3) Donruss Signature Platinum Press Proof printing error. The printing error has the standard Donruss Signature front (NO holofoil or PP indication at all) with the Donruss Signature Platinum Press Proof Back… the “1 of 150” printed below the stats on the back of the card. I have been collecting the Donruss Signature cards since their release in 1997 and remember the buzz and conjecture surrounding these errors. Apparently, this variation resulted from misalignments across the entire set run. So, there are very few of each player. Since Gwynn was clearly one of the if not THE best hitter of a generation, this collector’s oddity could be listed in the Holy Grail category. You will receive the card pictured.
