Cafe Zinkand Beer Stein from San Francisco with hinged top

Description: This is a old Cafe Zinkand covered beer stein from San Francisco. The Cafe opened in 1985 in the Emma Spreckels Building on Market Street opposite Mason by German immigrant Charles Zinkand, a pioneer restaurateur in San Francisco. The mug is a great early stoneware advertising for the Cafe and is in very good condition with several hairline cracks and a chip on the bottom edge of the mug (see pictures above). The lid, likely made of pewter, is fully intact and operational. The mug is just under six inches tall and approximately 3.75" in diameter.
